Trekking Alentejo “Countryside, Castles and Coast” – 8 days

Trekking in Alentejo is much more than walking through the beautiful fields travellers see when they research online. This particular trekking itinerary does allow you to explore that part of the olive and cork forest. But it also immerses you in the quiet rhythm of cities and villages where our people live. In the last days, the trek is made in the Alentejo coastline, one of the most well-preserved in Europe.

Such a route is so rich that we are sure you will go home with a clear view of what Alentejo is all about. Diversity is one of the highlights of this trekking experience.

  • Follow an historic aqueduct that has been in the plain for centuries
  • Get to know Evora, a world heritage site according to UNESCO
  • Conquer Monsaraz castle and marvel at the views over Alqueva artificial lake, the largest in Europe
  • Explore Alentejo coastline: hike the cliffs and beaches, cross rivers
  • Get in touch with real people: meet potters and fishermen
  • Taste the acclaimed local gastronomy and signature products like cheese and wine
  • Witness the flora and fauna in the interior of Alentejo and in the natural park at its coast

The 8-day trek “Countryside, Castles and Coast” shows you an Alentejo that you probably didn’t know existed. Venture on a self-guided tour or, even better, take the full experience by letting a guide show you the way and tell you all about the monuments, culture, gastronomy and traditions of the people who live in this part of Alentejo.
